Double Twin Bedroom

Updated: Mar 13, 2023

We decided to makeover one of my parents’ guest rooms so that it would have two twin beds instead of one queen! We thought this would make it a more functional space for grandkids and guests to sleep.

BEFORE

We began by doing a floor to ceiling board and batten accent wall and painting the entire room extra white by Sherwin Williams. For the accent wall, we covered the entire wall with 1/8″ plywood and then spaced 1×3’s for the battens.

I wanted to reuse as much as I could from their previous room so my mom and I decided to makeover a big mirror that was a part of their old dresser set. We tried rub N buff for the first time and it turned out great!!! We used the color European Gold. You can see us doing this in a video in my “parents’ house” highlight bubble on instagram @thebloomingnest !

Another DIY project in this room is the table lamp! Below is a before and after. I used textured spray paint first, and then hand painted scalloped detail around it. I covered the cork part of the lamp with neutral colored rope.

The piece that is acting as a nightstand is a piece that my mom has had for as long as I can remember. She painted it white and added gold hardware. I love how its vintage vibe plays off of the pretty rug.

The beautiful rug from Boutique Rugs is where my inspiration started for this room. It is so pretty and has a vintage look to it! You can use code BLOOMINGNEST60 on their site for 60% off!

I knew when we began this space that we wanted to have Beddy’s sets on each of the beds. If you haven’t heard of Beddy’s, it is zip up, all-in-one bedding! I am in love with it. We have it on Lawson’s bed and our own bed at home. We chose the color Love At First White for this room. You can use code BLOOMING on your orders for a discount!!
